Glenfeshie Hostel Upgrades and Progress Page

The hostel has just undergone a series of upgrades as follows:

• New entrance wing to the south of the main hostel block. This includes a new, spacious, naturally lit entrance vestibule along with a new purpose built drying room again with its own external window. The drying room also houses the tumble drier, a washing machine and a dehumidifier.
• The new paved access to the hostel provides a more direct route from car park hostel entrance.
• A new kitchen has been built within a new wing to the west of the main hostel. This is considerably larger than the previous kitchen area and incorporates a dishwashing machine plus a much larger refrigerator. The kitchen has a large window facing over the fields towards the river. Locating the kitchen off the main common room, coupled with improved kitchen ventilation and building insulation will reduce problems with condensation in the lounge.
• The lounge has had the lower walls insulated internally. A new patio door has been installed facing south and a patio area has been built and furnished with a table and benches. This provide a great view up the Glen. These works have added lots more natural daylight, have increased the seating area and has allowed a longer table to be installed to seat the entire party at meal times.
• A new shower room has been installed upstairs within the south wing accessed from the bunk room corridor.
• All of the new building work has been insulated to meet current building standards.
• The completion of the above works will allow the existing shower rooms to be taken out of service one at a time at a later date (hopefully in the course of 2011) for refurbishment and modernization.
